Top 5 FAQs on Email Validation

  • What is data maintenance email validation?

Email validation will inform you if an email address is valid (deliverable) or invalid (undeliverable).

  • Why is email validation important?

It reduces the number of hard bounces which protects your sender reputation.

It also helps improve deliverability metrics and ensure volume counts are accurate.

You know first time, the right channel to use to contact customers.

  • How does it work?

Beyond checking for an @ symbol and a valid domain, our email validation service detects whether the email mailbox is genuine and can receive mail.

The process starts with a syntax check then the check communicates directly with the mailbox provider to authenticate if an email address exists on the email server.

There is no disruption or communication to the customer.

  • How is data transferred and is my data secure?

Data transfer to Loqate is via secure FTP. Output data is returned via the same SFTP.

Loqate take their responsibilities seriously to enable compliance with applicable privacy legislation, such as the UK and EU GDPR. As per GBG’s Additional Terms, we utilise a third party to support our email validation offering. We conduct privacy and information security due diligence to ensure they have appropriate technical and organisational measures in place to ensure data processing remains secure and lawful.

  • What data is required and returned?

Required data: the email address only.

Returned data: the input email address and a set of codes that enable you to understand if the email address is valid, invalid or if the status could not be determined (unknown).
